A road trip to defending state champs and #5 ranked New London was not going to stop Lone Tree from getting over the hump and capturing their first win, as they walked away with a 48-42 victory in overtime.
The Lions got a goal line stop to open the overtime and then punched it in for the victory on their second play. Alex Viner was a workhorse on the ground with 19 carries for 139 yards and four touchdowns while Harmon Miller was seven of 24 for 108 yards and one score. Keegan Edwards recorded five receptions for 49 yards and reached pay dirt once. Head Coach Aaron Bohr had nothing but praise for his guys. “It was such a whirlwind game and our guys came out and played terrific. There is no better group to have in your corner than these guys. We have the right people and they got it done. I am so pleased with their efforts.”
The Lions improve to 1-3 and get back home Friday against Montezuma.
