For the first time since 2017, the Columbus Wildcats tasted victory on the football field Friday, beating GMG, Garwin on the road 20-12. It was Columbus’ first win since October, 20th 2017 when they took down Van Buren 29-8. It’s also the first win in the tenure of new Wildcat head coach Tyler Kibbe. The Wildcats got the job done behind a six for 11 night through the air for Bawi UK who finished with 122 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. His favorite target was Jonathan Gonzales who pulled in three passes for 90 yards and a score. Will Schwab had a big night on the ground with 31 carries for 135 yards and a touchdown. Tucker Bright led the Wildcat defense with six total stops, four of those tackles for loss and one sack. With the win Columbus is now 1-2 on the year and will travel to rival Louisa-Muscatine Friday.
