
Washington’s single stream recycling and automated trash pick up has been in place for over a month and the city council approved a reimbursement for the new containers. At the recent council meeting, per the contract with Johnson County Refuse, the city reimbursed the initial cost of the containers. The total cost as $239,095.25, about $11,000 under budget. Mayor Jaron Rosien said he’s heard positive comments and reminds residents they still have time to make changes if they wish, “Our residents have three weeks and change if they need to change the size of their cart up or down, or to biweekly, or make any changes at no charge.
