A Brighton farm and a Washington restaurant are collaborating to bring a menu of all Washington County-grown produce. Cafe Dodici is hosting a Farm-to-Fork dinner with Frakes Family Farm on Tuesday. Joe Frakes says there’s an advantage to having locally grown food, “Just knowing, you know, that they’re getting the best and most tasty produce, too because it’s not something that’s had to ride from California or somewhere from South America in an airplane or a box car for weeks, and weeks, and weeks. They’re getting something that was out in my fields growing, and it’s fresh, and it’s tasty, and it’s ready to go.” The menu will include a gazpacho soup with fresh cucumber, red pepper and basil; an heirloom salad of mixed greens, aronia berry vinaigrette, heirloom tomatoes, green beans, and Kalona Creamery cheddar curds; a main course of either short ribs or a stuffed pepper both served with Swiss chard, dilled turnips and beets, and zucchini; the meal concludes with a layered panna cotta with organic blueberries. It is $38. Reservations are required, and should be made by contacting Cafe Dodici. Frakes Family Farm also has a booth regularly set up at the Washington Farmers Market with a variety of produce throughout the season.
