The Mid-Prairie baseball team rolled through the first round of the playoffs Tuesday, eliminating West Liberty 11-1 in six innings at Paul N. Bailey Field in Wellman. It was West Liberty that got on the board first when Talen Dengler doubled home Will Esmoil in the first inning to put the Comets up 1-0. Mid-Prairie would score the next 11 including one in the first when Brody Miller made it home on contact from Brad Tornow, three in the fourth when Aidan Rath, Kayden Reinier and Colton Hobbs scored with Miller driving in two, four in the fourth including a two RBI triple from Cale Robertson and a walk off three run homer that ended the game early off the bat of Aidan Rath. After the game Robertson talked about the team and his at bat. “When there are runners on, and there were two of them, I am always looking to put the ball in play. The pressure is on. I don’t want to get down in the count so I drove the first pitch out there. They were telling me to go four, but I was like, I don’t know about that. I was super pumped because I have never had a triple before so I knew I had to get it.”

Rath finished one for three with three RBI and two runs scored, Robertson drove in a pair. Brad Tornow got the win on the mound going five and two thirds innings, striking out 12. Mid-Prairie is 18-11 overall and will play West Branch for the district title Saturday.
