In a Wednesday Superconference baseball matinee it was the Highland Huskies who took a 7-5 win over Iowa Mennonite School in Kalona. The Huskies took an early five run lead with three in the first and a run in each of the second and third innings. IMS responded with a three spot in the bottom of the third and single runs in the fourth and fifth to get back within 6-5 but the Huskies added an insurance run in the top of the seventh and closed the door on the IMS comeback. Jacob Leonard was two for three with a homer and two RBI for Highland. The Huskies had 13 hits as a team. Dan Burton got the win on the mound going four innings, giving up eight hits, five runs and striking out two. London Schrock led IMS going two for four with a homer and three driven in. Blake Bontrager took the loss going all seven innings, giving up 11 hits, seven runs and striking out six. Highland is now 10-7 on the year and IMS falls to 10-7.
