The Sigourney baseball and softball teams had little trouble against South Iowa Cedar League foe Iowa Valley on Monday night.

The softball squad went on the road and won 16-1 in four innings in part by a nine run fourth frame. Sigourney had eight hits and showed plate discipline with 10 walks led by Megan Stuhr going 3-for-3 with three RBI. Courtney Hemsley got the start in the circle and gave up just two hits in four innings without giving up an earned run. The Savages are now 15-10.

On the boys’ side, Sigourney put up a five spot in the second and added on late to secure a 10-2 win. They managed seven hits headlined by a 2-for-3 performance with two runs scored from Brock Halleran. Payton Schauf picked up the win going four innings giving up one earned run that helped the Savages improve to 9-5 on the year.

Both squads face off with Melcher-Dallas today.
