The IMS boys soccer team sent four seniors out in fashion on senior day, as they closed their regular season with a 3-1 win over Washington.

It was a defensive battle for the first twenty minutes when IMS’ Louis Etienne broke the scoreless tie in the 24th minute. That 1-0 tally held true until the 55th minute when Drew Blauvelt was the beneficiary of a deflection his way and he blasted it from 20 yards in for the score. For good measure, Etienne had the final dagger with his second goal of the night in the final eight minutes. Washington was able to avoid the shutout when senior Caleb Suchan lofted a ball that found the back of the net with 30 seconds left. Head Coach of IMS Marcus Miller was pleased to send the seniors off on a high note. “We have had a rough couple weeks with injuries and guys banged up. It was nice to see us put together a solid game against a pretty good team. The goals were coming and our defense held strong until the very end.” IMS recognized seniors Etienne, Jacob Boller, Blake Bontrager, and Cody Jones after the contest.

Washington is now 2-10 and travel to Keokuk tonight. IMS closes the regular season 9-4 and they travel to Pella Christian to face Grand View Christian in the first round of sub-state on Monday.
