
Washington is home to six band students selected to the elite SEIBA first and second year band in southeast Iowa. Sixth graders earning SEIBA honors were Katherine Flannery on French horn, Joseph McCleary in percussion; Trevin Sulentich on tuba, and Claire Wubbena. Fifth graders honored include Kezyah Williams on clarinet and Audrey Smith. The band festival was held at Clear Creek Amana High School. First year band students were under the direction of Eric Lins of the Cedar Falls Community School District. Second year students were directed by retired Hampton director and Executive Director of the Iowa Alliance for Arts Education, Leon Kuehner. Washington band directors are Don Hughes and Craig McClenahan.
