People from all over the world will be celebrating Earth Day. Since 1970, April 22nd has been declared Earth Day to bring awareness to issues surrounding our environment. Washington County Conservation Director Zach Rozmus says it doesn’t take much to make a difference, “I think one of the things to keep in mind is, if even just for a day, have a smaller carbon footprint. Wither that means riding a bike, or walking to work, or something to that effect. I don’t necessarily think you have to have a specific project, but maybe if just on Earth Day, get out and appreciate some of the natural beauty we have in Washington County.” This year marks the 49th anniversary of protests that brought awareness to the negative environmental impact of industrial development, according to the Earth Day Network.
