The WACO boys’ basketball team was the final Superconference team to be eliminated from postseason play, which brought out this year’s all-conference lists. Five Warriors made it on in one form or another.
Junior Nik Coble was the lone first-teamer. He had a spectacular year, finishing in the top 10 across all classes in both blocked shots and total rebounds to go along with his 17.9 points per game. His 310 boards were the best in Class 1A.
Senior Colton Horak and Drew Kissell, another junior, were each named to the second team. Horak was a great facilitator in his senior season, finishing second in the Superconference and sixth in Class 1A in assists with 132. Kissell was their go-to secondary scorer, putting up 11.4 points per game.
Two Warriors, Elijah McGohan and Gabe Reichenbach, were each given honorable mentions in their junior seasons. McGohan produced in all capacities, putting up 53 assists, 29 total rebounds, 22 steals to go with his 6.3 points per game. He was also tops on the team in free throw percentage (73.5 percent) and had the fewest number of fouls among everyday players. Reichenbach was the team’s second-leading rebounder with 86 total boards while also finishing third in scoring with 8.3 points per game.
After a 17-5 season, the Warriors will say goodbye to three seniors in Wyatt Harbison, Colton Horak and Matthew Leichty, and retain the remaining 15 players.
