The Winfield-Mt. Union girls’ basketball team had two players named all-conference for the Southeast Iowa Superconference’s north division.
The lone wolf on the first team was Jenna Buffington, who broke out in her sophomore campaign. She finished at sixth in all of Class 1A in total rebounds throughout the year while also leading the Wolves in scoring, blocked shots, steals, field goal percentage and free throw percentage. She finished averaging a double-double for the season, sitting at 10.2 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.
Senior Liana Sweezer got herself an all-conference honorable mention. Sweezer was second on the team in scoring, total rebounds and field goal percentage, while also committing the fewest amount of fouls on the season among everyday players.
After a 5-17 season, the Wolves will lose only Sweezer to graduation and maintain the remaining 11 players; all of which are freshmen or sophomores.
