The Mid-Prairie girls basketball team starts down the tournament trail Saturday night when they welcome the Mount Vernon Mustangs to Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman.

Mid-Prairie enters the playoffs with an 11-9 overall record. Last time out they fell to No. 13 Wilton 59-49. On the season the Golden Hawks are led by Shae Becker scoring 13 points per game, seventh in the River Valley Conference. Becker is also the leading rebounder with 126 boards, seventh in the RVC. Kessa Jones leads the Golden Hawks with 51 assists, sixth in the River Valley.

Mount Vernon comes into the game with an overall mark of 9-10. Last game they beat Benton 37-19. The Mustangs are led on the season by Sammy Moss at 11 points per game seventh in the WAMAC East. Ashley Vis leads the Mustangs with 47 assists, sixth in the conference and Annie Rhomberg is best on the team with 91 rebounds seventh in the West.

The winner of this game advances to Wednesday night’s regional semifinal to take on the winner of Center Point-Urbana and Solon.
