The Washington girls’ basketball team played in a thriller of a game last night at home, losing to Mount Pleasant by just two points.

Mount Pleasant got out to an early lead, and got that lead up to 14 at the halftime break.  The Panthers would hold on to a lead that size for quite a bit of the third quarter and ended up taking a double-digit lead into the fourth quarter.  But the Demons stormed back on a great scoring run to tie it up.

Mount Pleasant managed to break the Demon press and get a shot to go with 2.7 seconds left on the clock to retake the lead.  They fired the inbound pass down the court to a streaking Isabel Bailey, but her last-second shot was no good.  Bailey and Addison Six led all scorers with 15 points each.

With the loss, the Demons move to 7-13 on the season.  Their next action comes on Monday when they welcome Clear Creek Amana to town for their last game of the regular season.  Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 7:30.
