Friday is a big night at Hillcrest Union in Kalona as it plays host to Senior Night for the Iowa Mennonite boys and the first round regional playoff game for the IMS girls.

The IMS girls open up the postseason tonight hosting Iowa Valley. The IMS girls enter the night with an overall record of 9-10. In their last game they blasted HLV 81-43 on senior night behind 35 points from Suzanna Yoder. On the season, Yoder leads all of class 1A scoring 27 points per game. Her 85 assists are also best on the team and second in the Superconference. Yani Gutierrez has grabbed 133 rebounds, best on the team and ninth in the Superconference.

Iowa Valley comes into the game with an overall record of 5-14. The Tigers beat BGM last time out 45-36. On the year they are led by Andrea Healey scoring 10 points per game. She has pulled in a team best 111 rebounds, seventh in the South Iowa Cedar League. Chelsie Rathjen leads the Tigers with 23 assists. The winner of tonight’s game advances to Tuesday’s regional quarterfinal to take on Lynnville-Sully.

In the Senior Night contest the IMS boys will meet HLV. The Iowa Mennonite boys come into the game with an overall record of 11-6. Last time out they beat Winfield-Mt. Union Monday 68-26 with Trevor Leyden leading the way on 16 points. For the season, IMS Is led by Eli Ours at 14 points per game, 10th in the Southeast Iowa Superconference. Caleb Gingerich has the team lead with 84 assists, third in the Superconference while Jeremy Niemeyer has pulled in a team best 112 rebounds, fifth in the Superconference.

HLV comes in with an overall record of 7-10. Last time out they knocked off Tri-County 62-40. On the season the Warriors are led by Dean Shaull at 14 points per game, fifth in the South Iowa Cedar League West. Carson Cheney has the team lead with 68 assists, fifth in the SICL West. Sam Gensley leads the Warriors on the glass with 135 rebounds, second in the conference. These two teams met a year ago with IMS taking a 69-47 win.
