flu

A second influenza-related death has been recorded in Iowa for the season. According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, influenza activity across the state is heightened and the geographic spread is regional. In the last week, there have been 13 influenza-associated hospitalizations and two schools with 10% or greater absence due to illness, one of which was in Wapello County. Surveillance sites also detected 166 cases of RSV, 151 cases of rhinovirus/enterovirus, and 142 cases of coronavirus. Help prevent the spread of illness by getting an annual flu vaccine, cleaning your hands frequently, covering your coughs and sneezes, and staying home when ill.
