Heavy snow and bitterly cold temperatures are in the weekend forecast for southeast Iowa. According to the National Weather Service, potential hazards include several inches of snow with brisk winds causing the snow to drift. AccuWeather calls for up to seven inches in Washington, with most of it falling Friday night and Saturday morning. Following the snow, the mercury in the thermometer is expected to drop with overnight lows in the single digits and could feel like 20 degrees below zero.
