The Keota basketball teams took to the road on Friday night, downing Colfax-Mingo in both of their games.

The girls’ game was first, with the Eagles taking a 47-36 victory.  Colfax-Mingo got out to a good start, playing physical, in-your-face defense and taking a 14-10 lead after the first quarter.  But the Eagles adjusted and stormed back in the second to take a one-point lead at halftime.  They pulled away in the second half to secure the 11-point victory.

The boys were next, winning a thriller by a 62-60 score.  It was a tight one all the way down to the final seconds of the game.  The Eagles were up two, and Colfax had two shots at the free throw line, but both shots were missed with three seconds to go to secure the Keota victory.  J.D. Stout led the way yet again with 28 points, and Carson Sprouse scored 10 off the bench.

The next action for the Eagles comes on Tuesday when they welcome HLV to town for a South Iowa Cedar League doubleheader.  Tip-off for the girls’ game is set for 6:00 with the boys to follow.
