The Washington County Sheriff is a state leader. Sheriff Jared Schneider has been named the president of the Iowa State Sheriffs’ and Deputies’ Association. He was elected to the position Tuesday. Schneider has previously served as the association’s secretary. The ISSDA’s mission is to “promote the positive role of law enforcement throughout the state; support our members in the multi-faceted aspects of the office of Sheriff; educate our members by providing quality training and assistance; and protect the public through community outreach and legislative actions.” Schneider was elected sheriff in 2016, after being Washington County’s chief deputy.
