The Homecoming celebration was cut short at Winfield-Mt. Union Friday as the HLV Warriors came to town and took a 72-22 win.

HLV scored first but the Wolves answere with a 69 yard Daunted Oepping scoring run, after the two point conversion, WMU was up 8-6. HLV would post back to back touchdowns, leading 22-8 after one quarter. In the second, the Wolves climbed within 22-16 on Oepping’s second scoring run of the night, only to see HLV reel off the next 30 points in the game and take a 52-16 lead into the half.

After intermission, HLV posted three more touchdowns before the Wolves got a late score from Keegan Atkinson. The Warriors dominated the stat line, outgaining the Wolves 466-218 including 395-150 on the ground. The Wolves could not overcome three turnovers in the contest. With the loss, WMU is now 1-5 on the year as they get ready for a trip to top five New London next week.
