The Washington Demon football team traveled to Keokuk to open up district play last night, beating the Chiefs in their homecoming game 28-6.

It was a game of field position almost all game long for the Demons.  They started at at least their own 40 yard line for most of their drives, including one that started at the Keokuk 14 after a short punt out of the back of the end zone.  The Demons scored on their first two drives of the night, and a Brady Knutson interception on the Chiefs’ first drive set the tone for the rest of the game.

Cade Hennigan had another big night, catching six passes for 112 yards and a touchdown.  Luke Turner also dazzled in the road win, scoring four total touchdowns and successfully completing two two-point conversions.

The Demons’ next action comes this Friday night when they travel again to take on third-ranked Solon.  Coverage of that one on FM 106.1 will start at 7:00 with a 7:30 kickoff.
