The Sigourney-Keota football team is coming off a big win last week, beating Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on the road 48-34.  The 3-1 Cobras are away from home again this week, and they’ve got another tough test ahead of them in Wilton.

Wilton was a ranked team going into last week, but taking their first loss of the year against the now-fifth-ranked Benton Bobcats pushed them to just outside the top ten.  Meanwhile, Sigourney-Keota has quietly gone on a tear since losing to Pekin week one, including a big road win against then-ranked Lynnville-Sully.

Last week’s game saw the first Cobra action without their star running back Carson Crawford, who is now out for the season due to a torn rotator cuff.  JD Stout took his place as the breakout back, rushing for 250 yards and five touchdowns.  He says Wilton might be their toughest test of the year, but that won’t stop him and his team from giving 100 percent.

“I think this is going to be a really big week for us; this is a make-it-or-break-it week,” Stout said.  “We’ve got Wilton, which is a very, very respectable football team, but I just know we’re going to come out and play really hard and give it all we’ve got.”

Kickoff in Wilton is set for 7:00.
