After concerns over parking and traffic issues were voiced from residents and city council members, the Washington City Council gave a first reading of an ordinance for stop signs and no parking zones.

The ordinance states creating a four-way stop at the intersection of West Van Buren Street and South C Avenue, creating a three-way stop on South Avenue E and West Tyler Street northwest of the high school, and adding a northbound stop sign at Avenue M Court and West Buchanan Street. The ordinance also adds no parking zones on the north and south sides from South Avenue B to South Avenue E, on the west side of South Iowa Avenue for a distance of 100 feet south of the centerline with the intersection of West Tyler Street, and on the north side of West Tyler Street for a distance of 68 feet west of the centerline with the intersection of South Iowa Avenue, and on the south side from its intersection with South Avenue B to its intersection with South Iowa Avenue. The council approved the first reading of the ordinance, a second reading will be on the agenda for the next Washington City Council meeting.
