The KCII Severe Weather Action Team responded to severe weather Saturday night.
A severe thunderstorm warning was issued at 9:08 p.m. for southwestern Washington, northwestern Henry, and northeastern Jefferson counties. The storm was radar indicated with 60 mile per hour winds and quarter size hail predicted by the National Weather Service. Seventy mile-per-hour winds were recorded at the Fairfield Airport in Jefferson County. Half-inch sized hail was recorded in What Cheer and Keswick in Keokuk County, and one inch of rain was received in Washington from 8:30-10 p.m. A flash flood watch remains in effect for Washington County until 7 a.m. Sunday.
