Two completed projects in downtown Washington received grant funding from the Washington City Council.
At their recent meeting the city council awarded $50,000 to Greiner Buildings and $29,000 to DW Developments under the Downtown Investment Grant Program. Greiner Buildings recently completed renovations of their new location where the former public library sat which totalled $301,350.81. DW Developments’ renovation of the Washington Evening Journal office totaled $130,358.89.
Main Street Washington Executive Director Sarah Grunewaldt commented on the renovations, “Both went above and beyond expectations. They’re beautiful projects that are using buildings that were underutilized and they have plans to continue to expand those projects and both of them have second and potentially third phases. That could come down the road with further development and further commercial space and/or residential space available.”
The releases of funds for both projects are pending each developers’ signing of a memorandum of downtown investment grant agreement for recording as a lien against the property under DIG guidelines.
