The Sigourney/Keota and Pekin football teams have a history of  tightly-contested games, usually being decided by a touchdown or less.  Friday night’s edition of the backyard brawl, however, was a bit of a different story.

The game was close at the start, with SK actually leading 6-3 in the second quarter.  But after JD Stout’s touchdown run to cap off that scoring drive, Pekin came back with 21 unanswered points and held a 24-6 lead in the third quarter.  The Cobras would strike again, but Pekin would answer and win the game 31-12.

JD Stout was a standout on the ground for SK, carrying the ball 18 times for 109 yards and a touchdown.  He also completed one pass for 35 yards.

The Cobras’ next game will be on Friday night at Lynville-Sully.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
