Washington County’s unemployment rate fell from June to July.

According to Iowa Workforce Development, the rate fell from 2.2% in June to 2.0% in July. In July of 2017, 2.8% of Washington County was unemployed. Overall, the state’s unemployment rate fell from 2.7% in June to 2.6% in July. The state’s rate is lower than July of 2017, which was 3.1%. Of Washington County’s contiguous counties all saw dips in unemployment rates except for Jefferson which rose from 2.3% to 2.4% and Keokuk and Louisa which both remained unchanged at 2.5%.
