This week marks the kickoff to a new season for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk football team. The year opens on Friday, August 24th with a trip to class 3A Grinnell. The Tigers finished last season with a 1-8 overall record. Hitting the road will be a theme for the Golden Hawks early in the year, four of their first five contests are away from home. Mid-Prairie’s home opener comes in week three, on September 7th when they face a traditional conference rival in the Wilton Beavers. In class 1A last year Wilton was 9-2, finishing one game short of the UNI Dome. After a quick stop at home the Hawks travel to class 3A Iowa City Liberty for week four, then south in week five to Donnellson to open district play against Central Lee. The Golden Hawks close September with a home date against defending state runners-up Williamsburg.

Homecoming for the Golden Hawks comes in week seven when they welcome Eddyville-Blakesburg to Dwight G. Sattler Field on October 5th. The Golden Hawks close out the road portion of the schedule in week eight with a trip to Davis County and senior night is week nine when they host Albia.
