The Winfield-Mt. Union football team played its first game as an eight-man squad last night, falling in Springville by a 52-28 score.

It was a battle in the first half, with the lead changing five different times throughout the first two quarters.  The Wolves would take an 8-6 lead early in the first quarter on a 76-yard Brandon Snowden kick return touchdown and a two-point conversion.  The scoring went back and forth for a bit after that, with the Wolves leading 28-26 toward the end of the second quarter.  They would not score again.

The Wolves start their season at 0-1.  They’ll look to get their first win of the year next week when they play their first home game of the season against English Valleys.  Kickoff for that one is set for 7:00 p.m.
