After seeing their season come to an end against eventual substate finalists Iowa Mennonite in the first round of districts, the Keota Eagle baseball team had two selections to the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association’s all-district team for the southeast district.

Both second-team selections, senior Cole Brenneman and junior Austin Waterhouse were each standouts for the Eagles this season.

Brenneman was the team’s leader in RBI with 21 and also sported a .317 batting average; one of four players on the team to reach the .300+ mark.  Waterhouse was one of the others, hitting .310 and being the only Keota player to take it deep this season.

Waterhouse was also the team’s ace pitcher, starting 12 games; three times as many games as the second-place starter.  In those 12 starts, Waterhouse tossed 42.1 innings and struck out 49 while boasting a 3.97 ERA.
