Residents are warned of a sidewalk construction project occurring through this weekend near the Washington County Courthouse.

According to Washington County Auditor Dan Widmer from this Friday through Monday July 30th the sidewalk along the courthouse and the McCreedy building in the 200 block of West Main Street in Washington will be replaced. Minor repairs will also take place during that time to the sidewalk along North Avenue B and 2nd Street that borders the Washington County Safety Center. Due to the construction the post office drop box on the south side of the courthouse along Avenue B will be closed after mail is collected Thursday and will remain closed until Tuesday, July 31st. The McCreedy building will still be accessible during this time but the public is urged to use caution. Widmer apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the project but stresses that completion of the project will greatly enhance pedestrian safety.
