After a 17-12 season, the Highland Husky baseball team had six players named to one of the three all-conference teams for the Southeast Iowa Superconference’s north division.

One first-teamer represented Highland in junior Brody Burton.  He was named as an infielder for his .393 batting average, 21 RBI and 25 stolen bases, but he also lit up the mound.  As a pitcher, he started seven times and finished with a 1.26 ERA and 82 strikeouts through 44.2 innings of work.

Three players, junior Trey Lasik, eighth-grader Luke Miller and senior Robert Yoder, were named to the second team.

Lasik led the entire conference in batting average with .500 on the year as a whole (as well as in conference play).  Miller was outstanding defensively in his first varsity season, notching only five errors through 29 games.

Yoder had his best season as a Husky, leading the team in RBI with 25 and coming second in batting average (.423) and stolen bases (22).

Junior Bill Laughlin and eighth-grader Chase Schultz round out the Huskies’ all-conference selections with honorable mentions.

Laughlin was great in both of his facets of the game, finishing with a .357 batting average, 15 RBI and 19 runs scored at the plate and commiting just four errors through the entire season.

Schultz had a breakout year on the mound in his first varsity season, with an earned run average of 2.44 and striking out 39 in his 37.1 innings of work.

The Huskies will return five of their six all-conference selections next season.
