The Lone Tree softball team saw their season come to an end Tuesday in the regional quarterfinal round of the class 1A playoffs, falling to North Mahaska 9-0 in New Sharon.
The Lions were held to just two hits in the night against Warhawk starter Emma Deucore who went the distance, walking three and striking out seven. Things were scoreless until the third when North Mahaska pushed across two runs against Lone Tree starter Abby Buckman. The Warhawks scored twice more in the fourth, four times in the fifth and once in the sixth. Buckman took the loss for Lone Tree going five innings, giving up eight hits, nine runs, five of them earned, walking two and striking out five. With the loss, Lone Tree ends their season at 11-11 overall and lose senior Skyler Pettitt to graduation.
