The Iowa Mennonite School baseball team hosted the Pekin Panthers Thursday night for their Senior Night and regular season finale.

The Panthers finished a sweep of the season series with a 14-7 win. Pekin won the initial contest between these two schools 7-6 in June. In a game heard on AM and FM KCII, the Panthers got on the board first with four runs in the second inning, IMS responded in the bottom half, batting all the way through the order without the benefit of a hit, scoring three times on five walks and a hit batter to make the score 4-3. There were 22 total walks issued in the game, 13 by Pekin pitching. The Panthers also hit four batters. Pekin posted a pair of runs in the third to go up 6-3 and IMS tied the game at six in the fourth when London Schrock doubled home two as part of a three run rally. Pekin put the game out of reach in the fifth, sending 11 batters to the plate, scoring six runs on four hits and an IMS error to go up 12-6. Blake Bontrager took the loss for IMS going four innings, giving up eight hits, nine runs, walking four and striking out one. IMS got one hit apiece from Schrock and Cole Ours. IMS honored baseball seniors Isaiah Swantz, Cole Ours and Reggie Borntrager and softball seniors Hannah Harris, Avery Blauvelt Alyssa Hershberger and Joya Schrock. With the loss, IMS is now 13-9 and will open up the playoffs Tuesday against Keota.
