The Highland Husky softball team stuck it to Wapello on the road in a playoff preview matchup last night, beating the Indians 11-3.

It was tied at one apiece after the first inning, and stayed that way until the top of the fourth when the Huskies struck for three to take a 4-1 lead. They would do the same in the fifth and score four in the sixth to finish out with 11 runs.

Abbie Miller led the way at the plate, going three of four with a home run, six RBI and two runs scored.  Murphy Beinhart was also great, stealing four bases in as many trips to the base path and scoring three runs.

Megan Hoening pitched well yet again, going five innings in the circle giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits while striking out two.

Highland will finish out their regular season with tournament play today in Alburnett, and then it’s on to the postseason.  Round one will take the Huskies back to Wapello for a third and final game against the Indians.  The teams split the regular season series 1-1.
