Cleaner air is celebrated this weekend as the 10th anniversary of Iowa’s Smokefree Air Act is recognized.
In 2008, Governor Chet Culver signed the Smokefree Air Act into law which addresses secondhand smoke exposure in restaurants, bars, and workplaces. Five years ago on the anniversary of the law being enacted the American Cancer Society Action Network conducted a poll and found that 82% of registered Iowa voters supported the law and said it made Iowa a better place to live. Iowa is one of 25 states to have enacted such legislation.
