Weather permitting, the Washington Demon baseball team will take to the road tonight, as they head to Williamsburg to take on the Raiders in a single game.
The Demons come into tonight’s game sitting at 12-6, fresh off a split with Southeast Conference rival Fairfield. Williamsburg is currently sitting at 3-19, taking a sweep against South Tama on Monday night.
The Demons are led offensively by Cade Hennigan and Luke Turner, each sporting a .515 batting average. Hennigan leads the team in runs scored with 27, while Turner leads the way in runs batted in with 21.
Demon pitchers struggled a bit in game two of the Fairfield double-header, but head coach Nathan Miller says tonight’s game will be a good chance to improve them for the rest of the week and the rest of the season.
“One of our mottos is to improve one percent every single day,” Miller said. “And by the end of the season, we’ll have taken several strides forward. We have that opportunity to get things going back again where we want to be at on Wednesday with Williamsburg, and continue that momentum and improvement throughout the next few weeks until the postseason starts in July.”
Coverage for that one will be on FM 106.1 KCII starting at 6:30 with the Washington HyVee Pregame Show, with first pitch at 7:00.
