Last year the state legislature approved the sale and use of fireworks during certain times of the year, although cities have the option to limit when they may be used in cities.
Residents of the City of Washington are reminded that the city ordinance states “no person shall discharge a consumer fireworks device outside the following dates and hours: July 3rd from the hours of 9 a.m. until 10 p.m., July 4 from the hours of 9 a.m. until 11 p.m., and December 31 from 9 a.m. until 12:30 a.m. January 1.” Also, use of sky lantern open flame devices are not permitted in city limits unless they’re tethered by a retrievable rope. Use of mine and shell devices, and use of aerial shell kits are prohibited in Washington.
