Joe Mitchell

Four candidates vying for the Republican nomination for State House Representative District 84 have been narrowed down to one after Tuesday’s primary election.

Joe Mitchell of Wayland won the nomination with 600 votes for the district which covers all of Henry County and portions of Washington, Jefferson, and Lee Counties. Mitchell comments on his primary victory, “I can’t really explain it in words, but it was awesome to have that feeling that people trust me to be able to do good things for this district, and take after Dave Heaton who’s been there for 24 years and done a great job.”

Leading up to the primary Mitchell says he knocked on about 2,000 doors meeting constituents and he says he looks forward to getting to know more voters before the November general election. Mitchell faces Jason Moats of Mount Union who secured the Democratic nomination unopposed.
