After taking the weekend off, the Washington Demon baseball team will resume action here at home tonight against conference foe Keokuk.
The Demons come into this double header with a record of 5-3, going 3-1 in Southeast Conference play so far this season. Keokuk comes into this one at 3-7 with a team ERA of over 17 in conference play. Head coach Nathan Miller says the Chiefs have the potential to make anything happen, so the key to these games lies within his own guys.
“We’re really focused on what we can do. Focusing on the strengths that we have and identifying areas that we can maybe exploit with the other team’s defense,” Miller said.
“Using our team’s speed; we have a ton of stolen bases right now, and what’s great is that we have as many steals between second to third as we do first and second. We want to continue to utilize our strengths; continue to grow these guys’ confidence and understanding of the game.”
Throughout Southeast Conference play, the Demons are led at the plate by sophomore Luke Turner, who sports a .375 batting average and six RBI against conference opponents. He and the Demons will look to stay sharp in conference play tonight, with coverage on KCII 106.1 beginning at 5:00 with the Washington HyVee Pregame Show. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30.
