The Highland softball team scored their first win of the young season Friday 6-5 at West Burlington.
Highland got on the board with a pair of runs in the first and built a 3-0 lead before West Burlington made their move. The Falcons got single tallies in each of the second and third innings to pull within 3-2. West Burlington would take their first lead of the game with two in the sixth. Down to their final three outs and trailing 4-3, the Huskies rallied for three runs in the top half of the seventh and put away West Burlington in the bottom half to capture the win. Mackenze Hora led the Highland offense with three hits and an RBI. Megan Hoenig got the win in the circle, going three innings, giving up four hits, three runs, walking three and striking out a pair. Highland is now 1-2 on the year and will face Mediapolis on the road Tuesday.
