The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team stayed perfect on the young season with a 4-3 win over the visiting Keokuk Chiefs Memorial Day night in Wellman.
Keokuk got things started with a three run first inning to take an early lead. Mid-Prairie answered with a pair in the bottom of the first on a two-out, two-RBI single from Stephen Miller to cut into the lead 3-2. From there both starters settled in until the fourth when the Hawks pushed across two more to take their first lead on RBI doubles from Brody Miller and Brad Tornow. From there Mid-Prairie relievers Miller and Collin Gingerich closed the door on the Chiefs to secure the win. Jacob Leonard got the win for Mid-Prairie, going four innings, allowing four hits, three runs, walking four and striking out seven. With the win, the Hawks are now 4-0 on the year.
