A Brighton landmark will be seeing improvements thanks to a local organization.
The Brighton Lions Club will be upgrading the city’s pavilion park shelter and food shack, including a total rehabilitation of the electrical system, installing rain gutters to improve drainage, upgrading the shelter’s lighting, and installing new food serving windows. The club received a Washington County Riverboat Foundation grant of $20,522 for the project, to which they contributed $2,000. According to First Vice President Diane Foxworthy, this project will enhance the curb appeal of the pavilion as well as safety for using the pavilion for community events. The park is used for the annual Whoopee Days festival and Red Flag Horseless Carriage Tour, and with these improvements they hope to bring in more events that will enhance cultural experiences in the town. Work is expected to begin this July.
