The No. 2 Iowa Mennonite boys soccer team travels to face No. 3 Solon Saturday in the substate final round of the class 1A playoffs.

IMS enters today’s action with a 17-1 overall record. So far on the tournament trail IMS has knocked off Mediapolis 6-0 to open play and avenged their only loss of the season to No. 7 Burlington Notre Dame with a 2-1 win in the semifinals. On the season IMS is led by Louis Etienne with 16 goals, most in the Southeast Iowa Superconference. Jacob Boller and Cole Ours lead IMS and the Superconference each with 10 assists. In goal Blake Bontrager has made 61 saves and recorded seven shut outs.

The Solon Spartans enter today’s action with an overall record of 15-5. They have won the first two rounds of the playoffs over Highland and Holy Trinity Catholic by matching 5-0 scores. The Spartans are led on the season by Jorel Justus with 23 goals, fifth most in Iowa in class 1A. His 12 assists are ninth most in the state. In goal, Eric Weetman has made 35 saves and posted 10 shut outs on the season.
