The No. 2 Iowa Mennonite School soccer team hosts No. 7 Burlington, Notre Dame Wednesday night in the semifinal round of the class 1A substate tournament.
IMS enters play at 16-1 on the year, fresh off of a 6-0 win over Mediapolis in the first round of the tournament Monday. Their lone blemish on the year, a conference tournament championship loss to Notre Dame. For the season, IMS is led by Louis Etienne with 16 goals, Jacob Boller has the team lead with 10 assists and Blake Bontrager has 58 saves and seven shut outs in goal.
Burlington Notre Dame enters tonight’s match with an overall record of 14-3 after a 6-0 win over Danville in the first round of the playoffs. Notre Dame is led by Jakob Anderson with 19 goals. Sturgis Thorton has the team lead with six assists and in goal Caden Murphy has 66 saves. These two teams have met twice this year with IMS getting a 2-1 win and the Nikes getting a 3-1 victory in the championship game of the Superconference tournament. Action begins Wednesday at 6:30 at Iowa Mennonite School.
