A section of Washington will have water turned off Monday for a water main replacement.

The new water main will be installed from East Madison Street on the east side of South 2nd Avenue north to East Jefferson Street. JJ Bell, City of Washington Maintenance and Construction Superintendent, states there will be no water on Monday morning for a few hours for quite a few residences. City staff placed notices on residents’ doors to warn them of the outage. Water will be shut off on East Madison from South Iowa to South 4th Avenue, and on South 2nd Avenue from East Madison to East Jackson. The planned work will serve the low pressured water main on East Jefferson while also providing adequate water volume for the new fire department.
