The No. 16 ranked Iowa Mennonite School boys soccer team scored a key Southeast Iowa Superconference road win Tuesday at Columbus by a 2-1 score.

It was the Wildcats who got on the board first in the 26th minute, taking advantage of a ball that wasn’t cleared by the IMS defense to find the back of the net. In the final 10 minutes of the first half, Iowa Mennonite found the equalizer as Gerardo Mendoza connected with Isaiah Swantz for the game tying goal, leaving the game knotted at one going to the break.

The two teams played evenly until the 72nd minute when IMS was awarded a penalty kick for a handball in the box, as a Columbus defender knocked down a ball headed for the goal. Cole Ours stepped up and took the kick, putting it by the keeper to give IMS the 2-1 lead, and eventually the win. Cody Jones led the IMS defense in goal with three saves. With the win, IMS stays undefeated on the season at 6-0, Columbus falls to 4-4.
