Entertainment and other amenities were proposed to the Riverside City Council for RAGBRAI’s planned stop on July 27.

Trekfest Executive Director Kevin Meller gave cost estimates to the council for amenities including port-a-potties, trash receptacles, cooling water stations, entertainment such as bands and inflatables, marketing, and other fees. The total budget cost is $34,618.

Mayor Allen Schneider comments on the plans, “We’ve had quite a bit of discussion about what we want to do there, and Kevin Meller and Bill Poch are heading up our RAGBRAI committee and they’ve both put in a lot of time and effort. And Kevin especially has been working on trying to determine a budget and keeping us ahead of the game when it comes to renting some of the things that we’ll need to have available for that date. So the city council decided to approve up to $5,000 now for down payments on tents and things like that.”

The City of Riverside will look towards finalizing their RAGBRAI plans after getting information from a meeting that was held for the route town committees in Ames April 7.
