The Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union girls soccer team came up short in their first match of the season, falling to Mount Pleasant 1-0 in a shoot out Tuesday.

Defenses and adverse weather conditions controlled regulation and overtime as both teams struggled to find offensive chances, finishing regular time in a 0-0 tie. In the shoot out Aaliyah Santos knocked in a kick for the Wildcats but Panther goalkeeper Ayden Ross saved the other four attempts to secure the win. With the loss the Wildcats are now 0-1 on the season and will travel to West Burlington Notre Dame/Danville on Monday.

The boys contest between these two schools was suspended because of darkness with Mount Pleasant on top 4-0.
