The Iowa women’s basketball team saw their season come to an end in the first round of the NCAA tournament as the six seed Hawkeyes were upset by the 11 seed Creighton Blue Jays 76-70.
The Iowa baseball team swept Evansville in three games over the weekend in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes won by scores of 10-3, 8-3 and 4-3. They are now 11-6 on the year.
The Iowa softball team won two of three games at the Creighton Invitational over the weekend, topping Wichita State 3-2 and Creighton 4-3 before falling to Wichita State 12-5 on Sunday. They are now 12-10 overall.
The Iowa State softball dropped three of five games over the weekend in tournament action in Arkansas. The Cyclones fell to Tulsa 7-1, Arkansas 8-3 and Saint Francis 3-2. Iowa State beat Tulsa 12-1 and Omaha 6-5. Iowa State is now 17-16 on the year.
The UNI Panthers split a pair of games with Bradley over the weekend in Peoria as they opened Valley Conference play. UNI won 9-6 and lost 7-4. They are now 16-10 on the year.
Spencer Lee of Iowa became the first Hawkeye true freshman wrestler to take home an NCAA tournament individual title since Lincoln McIlravy in 1993 with a 5-1 win over Nick Suriano of Rutgers on Saturday.
